At Lillooet Learns, there is a growing operations team that oversees and delivers community programs and initiatives.
Store and Facilities Lead
Nik is proud to be part of the HUB team and Lillooet Learning Communities Society. She wears a few hats in her role, with her main position as a Storefront Manager. Nik also does the building maintenance, constructs displays and whatever is needed, while performing other tasks behind the scenes to help things flow more smoothly. Nik has been part of the HUB team since it was started 4 years ago. She is grateful to be working with this team and meeting many amazing people. Outside of work, Nik enjoys building, woodworking, and stained glass, as well as outdoorsy stuff.
Volunteer and Communications Lead
Monique is the unofficial hype woman for all things Lillooet. She’s here to make sure the right people hear the right stories—whether it’s through a post, a community shoutout, or a call for volunteers. With a background in photography, events, design, and a deep love for small-town life, she keeps things moving with heart, humour, and just enough spreadsheets. She believes in the power of local, the magic of showing up, and that the best ideas often start around a table filled with good people.
Elder Connect Coordinator
Sasha Fergusson is proud to serve as the Elder Connect Coordinator for Lillooet Learns and be part of a terrific team that is committed to fostering a vibrant, connected community for seniors. Sasha has now lived in Lillooet for five years; some may recognize her from her performances with The Fly Smackers, a local old-time band. As the Elder Connect Coordinator, Sasha is excited to continue working alongside the community to ensure that elders feel safe, celebrated, and engaged in all aspects of community life in Lillooet.
Indigenous Court Navigator and Justice Coordinator
Olivia Brown was raised in Lytton and is the mother of two children whom she loves. She studied at NVIT and is currently a Court Navigator and Elder Coordinator at the LLCS, where she specializes in the Lillooet Indigenous Court. These years have been not only formative academically for her but also personally, as they taught her the value of perseverance, collaboration, and critical thinking. In essence, Olivia believes that every step of my journey has shaped her into the person she is today. She looks forward to whatever lies ahead with optimism and enthusiasm.
HUB Coordinator
Lenore is our new HUB Coordinator and brings to the table event planning and administration. She was born and raised in Lillooet and is very connected to community members and all the communities in the surrounded area. Lenore wants to work here because she has always wanted a job where she works with the community and where she is involved in Indigenous initiatives. Outside of work she likes to be outside doing walks, camping and being by a lake hanging out with family and friends. So far what Lenore enjoys about working here is the amount of tourists this place attracts and all the new people she gets to meet. She is very friendly, out-going and greets all costumers with a positive attitude and smile on her face. She has already learned so much while working here and is busy from the time she arrives until the end of her shift. She looks forward to coming to work every morning and gets along well with all the staff. Lenore is excited to learn all the roles this job comes with and is excited to work with all the communities and its members.
Seniors Community Connector
This is the Community Connector, Social Prescriber, Christine Mahaits. She is in non-profit work because she enjoys helping others and making the surrounding area a nice place to live. Christine has been an integral part of the team as she was solely responsible for creating and growing the Elder Connect preogram and all if its services. She was born and raise in Lillooet. Christine likes to connect with the land by going for walks, hikes or paddleboarding while practicing photography on her spare time. Her hero is her Dad because he loves to learn new things, and knows how to do pretty much everything. She is very creative and likes to create beautiful things in multiple mediums.
Executive Assistant
Rita came on as an intern as part of her curriculum, and enjoys being part of the team. She finds it valuable to see how a nonprofit works behind the scenes, especially how events and activities are organized for the community. She has learned a lot about supporting all the moving parts that go into making those things happen.
As someone who is more introverted, Rita appreciates the chance to engage with all the different personalities that come through the HUB, it has definitely helped her grow. Outside of work, Rita is usually reading. Rita loves getting pulled into a book that totally absorbs her and then kicks her back into the real world once it ends!
Finance Coordinator
Amber started as one of the first paid team members at the Community Connect Innovation HUB in 2023. Since then, she has been learning administrative and finance skills and has been key in the process of developing a more efficient and organized financial system for Lillooet Learns and the HUB. In 2025, she completed a bookkeeping course and now works remotely as the bookkeeper and finance coordinator. Amber has lived in Lillooet for 23 years, and in her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, and hanging out with her family.

She is an experienced project manager with a CAPM designation and has 10 years of combined experience in business and non-profit administration. Megan values working on projects that empower citizens, grass-roots groups, collectives, entrepreneurs, social enterprises, non-for-profits and businesses to positively impact their communities. Megan is a foodie who loves cooking and eating cuisine from all around the world. She is always up for an adventure and a new challenge. The first time Megan visited St'at'imc territory - was on a raft, floating down the Fraser River. She is happy to now call this community her home.

Kind words
“The SLRD Area B is a funder and supporter of the Community Connect HUB, which is run by Lillooet Learns. They are partnering with local government, businesses, and non-profit organizations. I am proud and excited about the truth and reconciliation work and community sessions happening through the HUB and their team.”
“Partnering with Lillooet Learns through the Indigenous Skills, Training and Employment Program has given community members good opportunities to get training and learn job skills.”
“LLCS is a valuable partner of the Lillooet Regional Invasive Species Society. We are grateful for the shared workspace and collaborations. We see the impact that the HUB and the LLCS programs have in our community. They are integral to supporting non-profit work that is vital to our region.”
"I think one of the greatest gifts of being human is that we can learn just about anything. It is the natural state of the human brain to gather information. And if we can learn it, then we can believe we can do it, and with a bit of time and effort, things get done."
"Lillooet Learns has been providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, life-long learning opportunities for people of all ages for nearly 25 years. It is a true gift that continues to give to everyone in the Lillooet/Upper St’at’imc Region.”
"We had the privilege of partnering with Lillooet Learning Communities Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving diverse local communities. Over the past year, we've transformed their financial systems from an outdated bookkeeping process to a sophisticated, organized reporting structure that enables directors to effectively analyze their funding and programs. Thanks to the input from Megan who has a clear vision and really cares. We have had the pleasure of mentoring one of their staff members. When people learn together - everyone grows stronger!"
