A History of Community Conversations, Workshops and Dialogue Sessions
In the last 3 years, LLCS has focused on delivering accessible programming on the themes of reconciliation and decolonization. These programs, events and cross-cultural community conversations supported by volunteers and staff, and led by Indigenous people, have been very well-received in Lillooet. The impact of acting on reconciliation as an organization is that LLCS has had a significant increase in St’át’imc partners approaching the organization for support, collaboration, mentorship, and job opportunities.
The Lillooet Learning Communities Society (Lillooet Learns) and Community Connect Innovation HUB volunteers and staff have organized numerous inclusive events, including seminars and talks by First Nation leaders, art exhibits, book signings, and celebrations of important days such as Orange Shirt Day.
We believe that reconciliation is a verb and not a noun, and therefore we actively work to bridge cultural gaps through conversations, collaborations, events, workshops, and relationship building.

Lillooet Learns actively is working to engage with local governments including the St’at’imc Government, the District of Lillooet and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.
In September 2024, Lillooet Learns staff and board members assisted in a Community to Community Forum session.
These meetings will continue throughout the following year to continue building relationships, improving communication, and finding ways to work together.
